DAP Secretary General and MP for Kota Melaka, Kerk Kim Hock, underwent an operation to remove his tumour growth on 10.4.2002 . Biopsy was carried out on 5.4.2002 and the results have confirmed that he has rectal cancer.
He was operated by Dr Sebastian Tong, a colo-rectral specialist with a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur. He was discharged on 18.4.2002 and is now recuperating from the surgery at his Melaka home.
Kerk's histopathology report, which he received yesterday, confirmed that his rectal cancer is of second stage. Rectal cancer is normally divided into 4 stages, with the fourth stage being the advanced stage.
Kerk is expected to begin his follow up radiotherapy treatment in Malacca next week.
Kerk and his family will like to take this opportunity to express their sincerest gratitude and thanks to party leaders, members, friends relatives, members of the public who have, through emails, telephone calls, SMS messages and house visits given them their kind words of support and comfort.
Kerk hopes to be able to resume his political responsibilities as the DAP Secretary General and MP for Kota Melaka as soon as possible.
