Statement
by
Voon Lee Shan (Kuching ,
Saturday):
Chan Seng Khai urged the people of Batu Lintang yesterday to vote him
as if he is elected; there will be several machineries under him which
will be able to serve the people well. There are
adverse fallacies and erroneous elements in his statement. Development
is a human right. The right to development should not be denied even
when the people do not vote BN candidates.
Firstly, It
is totally misleading when Chan said that all his machineries under
him will serve the people well. Some of the machineries he mentioned
are his service centres in Batu Lintang, Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara,
Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan and Majlis Perbandaran Padawan. It is not
an arguable issue if he shuts down his service centres in Batu Lintang
if he lost in the State Election as these are his party machineries
and are not public funded. Of course, it is highly doubtful that he
will do so as any political party will try to retain their resources
in any areas they lost to continue to serve the constituent to wrest
the seats back. I am
totally surprised that he included these three local councils as his
machineries under him as he has mixed up between party machineries and
government machineries. Government
machineries such as local councils (Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara,
Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan and Majlis Perbandaran Padawan) must
and should continue to serve the people regardless of who they support
in the coming State Election. Government
machineries are rakyat’s machineries and SUPP being part of the
government is entrusted by the people to run the government and its
machineries. During election, BN leaders are merely the caretaker of
government agencies and machineries. The lying principle behind is
that the agencies and machineries are rakyat’s properties and they
should serve the rakyat regardless of who they vote in any election Secondly,
Chan Seng Khai has yet to reply me on the followings: What
legitimacy and moral authority does Chan Seng Khai enjoy to talk about
development when he himself has failed miserably in providing
development in his area, with some areas do not have electricity
supplies, squatters are yet to be relocated while roads and drains are
not resurfaced and cleared for years.
