(Petaling Jaya, Wednesday): To uphold integrity and accountability, Khir Toyo as Menteri Besar should put on hold Zakaria, his son’s and his daughter-in-law’s appointment as councilor for Klang Municipal Council, until there is a clear explanations from Zakaria on his million Ringgit mansion which has yet been issued planning permission from the council, as well as the illegal satay house which was found within the vicinity, about 200 meters, of Istana Zakaria.

For the past few weeks, we have been witnessing either in local page or national page of several national mainstream dailies about the scandalous structures (Luxury mansion and  of Datuk Zainal @ Zakarian Mat Deros, a councilor-to-be for Klang Municipal Council cum ADUN for Pelabuhan Klang.

His decision to build his mansion without getting the necessary approvals can only be interpreted as a blatant disregard for the law. He cannot plead ignorance as the council had repeatedly reminded him in writing and verbally for proper plans to be submitted.

The DAP Selangor view this issue seriously and will bring up this issue in our internal meeting tonight and we will act collectively on this issue to push the State Government under Khir Toyo to put on hold Zakaria’s appointment as councilor, together with the appointment of his son and daughter-in-law as Klang Municipal Councilors pending on a full and clear explanation from Zakaria and full investigation been conducted in Zakaria and his family members.
