The Sarawak State Assemblyman for Kidurong Chiew Chin Sing said that the low quality net work service of the cell phone companies here in Bintulu is most regrettable.

Media Statement

by Chiew Chin Sing

(
Sarawak, Wednesday
): He said that many who are living in housing estates, and even those who are just a little distance  away from the town centre, like the Tg. Batu area, are facing problems. Either they are  having a hard time receiving and making calls or there is just simply no line.

There is no reason that cell phone companies are giving this kind of service to the people in Bintulu. After all, the people pay for the service and they are not using it for free. That is why they have a right to  good service.

Cell phone companies which are paid to provide for the service have a responsibility to ensure that they are always rendering the best service to their cell phones users.

At this age in  time when we are flooded with telecommunication technology, there is really not any  problem that the cell phone company cannot handle. The companies concerned must have the will and a sense for social responsibility in all that they are doing so as to improve  the quality of living for people .

Cell phones line service had been facing problem for quite a while now here in Bintulu, but the problems are not solved. When the company concerned was asked of the problem they said that they are upgrading the system.

‘But how come there is not even a notice of interruption to service for the cell phone users since the company know too well that the works will surely  interfere with the usage of the cell phones. The cell phone users in the above mentioned problems areas are kept in the dark, never  knowing when will the problem ever be fixed right. Talking about business ethics, it seems like some business monopolies these days are having problem with their standards and practices.

Cell phone with bad or no lines to get on to is really giving its users a lot of inconveniences and even losses. Are these cell phone companies prepaid to pay for the losses as incurred by their users for the on off, on off or no line service.

Our government had boasted much about the first class facilities in our country yet the peoples are facing so much problems and difficulty in so many areas of the  services. One wonder when will the government actually  be able to bring our country to be at par with the rest of the more advanced countries.

‘ I therefore urge that the Ministry concerned to look into the workings of the cell phone network services  and to ensure that the people are given a fair deal. These companies must be monitored closely so as to enhance their services to benefit the people. Thus bringing back the confidence of the people in our government that she can solve problems and can bring our country up to become a first class nations.’
