DAP CEC leaders’ 3 Nos in Batu Talam by-election: No Campaign, No Operation Centre And No Appearance in Batu Talam since BN has effectively obtained a political walkover

(Petaling Jaya, Wednesday): DAP rejects claims by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that the independent candidate Ng Chee Pang is sponsored by DAP as it is completely false. DAP maintains our position that DAP has no interest in the Batu Talam state seat.

As DAP is neither contesting nor supporting any candidate, DAP CEC leaders will not campaign, not set up any operation centre and not even appear in the Batu Talam constituency during the election period. The 3 Nos by the DAP CEC leaders will dispel any doubts that DAP has sponsored the independent candidate. This decision was conveyed to and fully supported by DAP Pahang.

As it is uncertain as to whether the independent candidate will even retain his deposit, BN has obtained a political walkover. The independent candidate is not a DAP member. His only link through DAP is through his father, DAP Pahang State Treasurer Ng Kwee Lin. This matter has been addressed by Pahang DAP State Committee.

DAP CEC leaders’ 3 Nos is taken because there is no real contest in the Batu Talam by-election as BN has effectively won. PAS and PKR boycotted the by-election in protest against the Election Commission for allowing electoral irregularities, fraudulent and flawed voter registration and election campaign process, money politics and lack of free and unbiased media access.
