(Petaling Jaya, Monday) : I refer to criticism leveled by Gerakan President Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik against the DAP Assemblyman for Pantai Remis, YB Nga Kor Ming that he has been playing ‘newspaper politics’ and was around only 1 or 2 days per week to serve the people in Pantai Remis. I would like to say that with regard to serving the constituents, the service by provided by Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik paled in comparison with the service that has been provided by YB Nga Kor Ming. 

As admitted by Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik, YB Nga Kor Ming visits his constituency every week and spent at least one or 2 days a week to meet his constituents. How about Dato’ Seri Lim keng Yaik himself? He hardly visit his constituents. He appears probably two months once up the stage to show his face. Similarly, his successor, Dato’ Chan Ko Youn is spending more time politicking in the Beruas Constituency that serving his constituents in Jalong or doing his work as the State Execution Councillor that he has been paid to perform. 

As the Perak DAP Chairman, I would like the people to know that YB Nga Kor Ming has been exemplary in his performance. He was exemplary in creating awareness with regard to the various issue facing the people through the newspapers. This is to his credit and not otherwise. He has also been exemplary in his performance in the State Assembly as none will deny. He has also served his constituents well by setting up service centres in Ayer Tawar and Pantai Remis. He also has a mobile service van which go round his constituency. He has appointed assistants to serve his constituents and he has set up and maintained the New Hope Library in Pantai Remis for the last 8 years. 

The people of Pantai Remis have a very capable State Assemblyman who is also a great orator. He is in great demand around the country and on television. The people of Pantai Remis should be proud of him and not be misled by Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik who is jeolous just because YB Nga Kor Ming has outshined him. 

I have been informed by Gerakan members that Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik once reprimanded them for losing the very capable young YB Nga Kor Ming to the DAP. 

YB Nga Kor Ming has performed exceptional well despite having to work as a lawyer to finance his political work unlike BN leaders like Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik and Dato’ Chan Ko Youn who are loaded. DAP Assemblyman have work hard to finance their political ideals as the State Assemblymen’s allowance is insufficient DAP Assemblymen have to give 25% of their allowance to the Party at the National Level and 3% to the Perak DAP. They have also to give various donations to the public. On the other hand, the BN leaders have the tax payers money in their hands. 

Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik is a disgrace to the people of Beruas because of his various antics. I have also been informed by Gerakan members that in 1990 General Elections when I lost to Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik by 731 votes, he or Gerakan members have brought in outside voters to help him win. I would like to challenge him to deny the same. I have also evidence that outside voters were brought in to help him win the said election.
