Barisa If the 3-member Special
Independent Panel is investigating only into the authenticity of the
recording of the video clip, this can easily be done by an expert

(Kuala Lumpur, Monday) : I am surprised at the statement by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz if the witnesses who can verify the ‘Lingam’ video clip do not come forward, then the authenticity of the video clip cannot be determined and this will prevent the 3-member Special Independent Panel from discharging its responsibility. As such, he says it is important for them to reveal the source failing which it could only be concluded that they are lying. If the 3-member Special Independent Panel is investigating only into the authenticity of the recording of the video clip, this can easily be done by an expert and, for that purpose, there is no necessity for any witnesses to come forward to show how the video clip was recorded. It is expert evidence which can verify the authenticity of the video clip, and not witnesses. Present-day technology can easily prove the authenticity of the video clip without the necessity of having the original or calling whoever recorded the video clip. In my view, the Government should take the matter seriously and have the video clip sent to an expert to verify its authenticity. Taking refuge under untenable legal arguments and excuses is not the way out. I only hope there are no attempts by the Government to cover up the scandal of this magnitude.
