Media Statement by Lau Weng San in Petaling Jaya on
Thursday, 1st May 2008:
Question submitted to demand
answers on Balkis
Yesterday was the last day for
Selangor state assemblymen and women to submit their questions for oral
and written replies.
The state assembly is scheduled to convene on 21st May to 26th May. All
questions for oral and written replies must be submitted not later than
21 days before the state assembly is called for meeting according to the
Standing Order.
I have submitted altogether ten
questions for oral replies and ten questions for written replies. My
first question for oral reply touches on the recent Balkis fiasco where
former Balkis chairperson, Datin Seri Zaharah Kechik is alleged to have
“smuggled” a total of RM9.9 million Balkis fund to be placed under Bakti.
In my question to the Menteri Besar, I have asked for the latest
investigation from Registrar of Society (ROS). My question is as below:
Bertanya kepada Y.A.B Dato’
Menteri Besar: -
a) Apakah siasatan terbaru
daripada Pendaftar Pertubuhan terhadap pembubaran Balkis, urusan-urusan
tanah dan kewangannya?
b) Apakah tindakan yang akan
diambil terhadap mereka yang menyalahgunakan kuasa khususnya pemindahan
wang RM9.9 juta?
c) Meminta satu senarai penuh
aktiviti Balkis dari tahun 2004 hingga 2007.
I hope that the Balkis office,
Registrar of Societies (ROS) can furnish all relevant information to the
office of the state government as it could be a breach of state
assembly’s privilege if the relevant offices refuse to furnish such
information, and that the matter could be referred to the Committee of
Privileges of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly Hall.
