Press Statement by Chong Chieng Jen in Parliament on
Wednesday, 15th October 2008:
DAPSY condemns any form of
political terrorism and demands the police to carry out an investigation
on Utusan Malaysia and Chamil Wariya, the writer of the short story
titled《Politik Baru YB J》published in Utusan Malaysia on 12-10-2008
DAPSY will be lodging a police report
against Utusan Malaysia and the writer Chamil Wariya who wrote the short
story titled 《Politik Baru YB J》which was published in Utusan Malaysia
on 12-10-2008 at the Ibu Pejabat Daerah Polis at Dang Wangi (opposite of
Stadium) tomorrow at 12:00 noon.
The short story in question has a malicious innuendo against the Member
of Parliament for Seputeh, Teresa Kok and is highly seditious, and even
smacks of political terrorism. It seems that the writer has the
intention to fan the public sentiment to carry out political
assassination of Teresa Kok.
It has not only threatened the safety of Teresa Kok but, if left
unchecked, it will create the culture of political terrorism in
Malaysia.
I condemn any form of political terrorism. As such, I call on the Police
to carry out an immediate investigation on both Utusan Malaysia and the
said writer Chamil Wariya.
I also condemn any political party which attempt to use its media to
indoctrinate the notion of political terrorism on the people of
Malaysia. Such irresponsible act will destroy the democratic system of
our country and will take Malaysia into the dark age of political
terrorism.
