Immediate Comment by DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Secretariat in Petaling Jaya on Thursday, 21st May 2009: Sixteen more people arrested in tonight's candlelight vigil: We're living in a place that is worse than a police state! DAPSY is extremely disappointed and disgusted by the latest round of ridiculous arrests tonight. Sixteen people were arrested earlier tonight at the 'Death of Democracy' candlelight vigil organised by DAPSY's Pandan division in front of DAPSY Deputy Chairperson and Teratai State Assemblyperson's office. DAPSY leaders including Jenice Lee herself as well as DAPSY Political Education Director Ooi Leng Hang were among those arrested along with other DAPSY members and one member of the public. This is another unforgivable assault on our country's dying democracy. We have descended into something even worse than a police state in which the police just arrests citizens for the fun of it. We're about to hit the 150 mark on the number of arrests made in relation to BN's coup d'etat in Perak. DAPSY calls on the police to release all of them immediately, and urges the Home Ministry to put an end to this nonsensical 'arresting-spree' now. * DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Secretariat
