Media Statement by Foo Yueh Chuan in Petaling Jaya on Thursday, 19th November 2009:

The Rocket United Cafe set up in Petaling Jaya is approved by the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC)

With reference to The Star report “Cafe with political logo to be investigated” (pg 35) today, the Party will like to make the following clarifications:

1. The DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) had on 22 June 2009 discussed and given its approval for a group of party members and supporters to set up the “Rocket United Cafe”.

2. The objectives of the cafe is to increase the reach of the Party to Malaysians, make readily available services such as voter registration and registration for other state benefits such as “Mesra Usia Mas” and “Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor”.

3. At the same time, the Cafe will contribute a certain percentage of the food and beverage sales proceeds to the Party, with no financial or investment risk to be borne by the Party.

4. The Rocket United Cafe was officially launched by the DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng on 4 October 2009.

5. Approval from Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) has also been properly secured for the Rocket United Cafe signboard and business premise on 18 August 2009 with the cafe/restaurant license.
