Media Statement by Liew Chin Tong in George Town on Saturday, 24th April 2010: Malaysian Maverick's long awaited release welcomed I welcome the decision by the Home Ministry to release Barry Wain’s Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times five months after 800 copies of the book arrived at Port Klang on 19th November 2009. The long wait is a sad display of incompetency and indecisiveness on the part of the Home Ministry and the Government. It took me three days to finish reading the book despite a busy schedule. With officials whose only job is to decide whether or not to recommend a ban on a certain book, there is just no reason for the Ministry to let the matter drag on for 150 days. The book, a political biography of Tun Mahathir Mohamad, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in the UK, and was launched in Singapore in December and in Indonesia in January.
