Media statement by Ng Wei Aik in Georgetown on Tuesday, 2nd August 2011:

Penang CMship: Let's not be trapped by UMNO's blatant lies!

So UMNO has declared that even if the party secures a majority in the Penang State Assembly, they will not be pursuing the post of the Penang Chief Minister.

It seems rather odd that they would resort to that statement when just a few years ago, then-UMNO youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin suggested that the Penang Chief Minister's post be rotated amongst the parties of the state Barisan Nasional.

Ironically that was what the Sabah Barisan Nasional did until the post got to UMNO's turn, then the rotation stopped and UMNO has been a permanent resident of the Sabah Chief Ministership ever since.

This is the game the UMNO always play. Their goal is to dominate every state in Malaysia eventually. The 2 states without an UMNO Chief Minister or Menteri Besar is Penang and Sarawak. UMNO is looking into making inroads in these 2 states eventually.

If it is that difficult to believe, why was UMNO contesting 15 seats in Penang while Gerakan only 13, MCA 12, and MIC 2? Why has UMNO become the biggest party in Penang?

So even if UMNO allows MCA or Gerakan to helm the Chief Minister's post for a term, they will eventually take the post as that is what they have already done in other states.

Recently, MCA and Gerakan or even MIC leaders are seeking the public mandate everywhere they going to win only one out of 40 seats in the Penang State Assembly.

Will UMNO easily let a BN's minority leader to lead them? Or this Chief Minister has to listen to UMNO for every single policy set by the Penang State Government? A lame-duck Chief Minister is not able to make Penang continue to lead again.

So, who is UMNO fooling? Their record tells the truth. UMNO doesn't care about multiracialism, their only goal is power! Let's not be trapped by UMNO's blatant lies, again!
