Media statement by Ng Wei Aik in Georgetown on Wednesday, 4th May 2011: DAP won't fall into BN's trap of racial politics Penang DAP wishes to ask Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) deputy president Datuk Seri Abang Johari Openg to mind his own business on whether Lim Kit Siang should be opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat. We here in the DAP know fully well that BN wishes that the opposition leadership be transferred to Lim Kit Siang for only one reason, to be able to play the race card and once again show an "us vs them" scenario as in a Malay government vs a Chinese opposition. Let us in the DAP remind Barisan Nasional that an Opposition is essentially a "government in waiting" and not meant for BN to always label Pakatan Rakyat as the opposition as BN may one day become the opposition to a Pakatan Rakyat federal government. When Pakatan Rakyat does form the Federal Government, our choice as the Prime Minister has and will be Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that is the reason he is retained as federal opposition leader. He is our "Prime Minister in waiting" and Pakatan Rakyat will take care of all Malaysians without any forms of discrimination. We, the DAP have agreed to this arrangement and we will not fall into the trap of racial politics laid by Barisan Nasional. They are waiting to pounce and scare the Malay/Bumiputra populace into submission by showing a Malay vs Chinese scenario and the DAP condemns that even after 54 years, BN still plays the race card and like is shark, is waiting for an opportunity to make the non-Malays the bad guys again. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is Pakatan Rakyat's choice for the position of Prime Minister and thus will remain the federal opposition leader as our "Prime Minister in waiting".
