Media statement by Jimmy Wong Sze Phin in Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday, 17th July 2012:

Challenge CM on money laundering

I have failed in my bid to move a motion of no confidence against Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman during the 3-day 13th State Assembly Sitting starting yesterday 16th July 2012. The motion was rejected by Speaker Datuk Salleh Said Keruak.

The motion of no confidence is related to the news portal "Sarawak Report" incriminating Musa Aman to the S$16 million cash been smuggled from Hong Kong to Singapore and the issuance of timber licenses to his brother Foreign Minister Anifah Aman worth RM400 million. It is reported that this matter was discussed in Parliament and that the Prime Minister confirmed that investigation is underway.

In the Dewan yesterday somehow saw the Chief Minister defending himself against a defensive comment from Luyang Assemblywoman Melanie Chia. The latter was defending President of SAPP Yong Teck Lee who was attacked by Deputy Chief Minister Yee Moh Chai and in so doing mentioned that one day he (Musa) may also be a subject of talk in the Dewan when he is no more the CM giving an example of money laundering in Hong Kong.

In response the Chief Minister said that she (Melanie) can talk and ask about it (money laundering). He said he (Musa) has no problem, is open and not worried at all. He added that there is no such thing and will explain nothing doing. Musa also said "I've told anytime to be check anytime to be investigated".

In this respect I challenge the Chief Minister to give his consent to the Swiss Authorities to disclose the account holders or beneficiaries (as per stated in the Sarawak Report). The Swiss Law prohibits the disclosure of direct or beneficial interests in any bank account held within the jurisdiction of Switzerland. It is only when the alleged account holder or beneficiary does consent to the Swiss authority to allow disclosure the inquiring authority will have access to them. Thus the ball is on Musa's feet.

Several Police reports have been made against his alleged money laundering but we can expect nothing to come out of them. But with Musa's open-mindedness about the matter it is of his own interest that he gives consent to the Swiss authority (where the money is parked) to disclose or dispute the allegation made by the Sarawak Report. His integrity and honesty is now online and he is the only one who can save himself.
