It is “interesting” to note that the lawyers for Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, said Rosmah Mansor did not buy any jewellery being sought by Global Royalty Trading SAL, but instead the jewellery was sent to her for viewing only.
The statement has shocked most Malaysians.
The lawyers claimed that the allegation of the use of stolen funds to buy the jewellery was “completely baseless and untrue”. To Rosmah, no offence has been committed as the jewellery is still at the “viewing” stage and there is no actual purchasing with stolen funds. However, it is illogical and unsound for one to believe in her defence.
What has made Rosmah Mansor achieve such a stature for the Lebanese jeweller to send the consignment of jewellery worth RM60 million for “viewing” without any single cent of payment? Is Rosmah Mansor a frequent and high-spending customer of the Lebanese Company or it is due to her position as the wife of the former Prime Minister, or the combination of both factors?
The statement by Rosmah’s lawyers is a clear admission by Rosmah Mansor to the ownership, or at least the physical ownership, of the jewellery seized. It also exposes the blatant and extraordinarily lavish lifestyle of the wife to the former Premier of the nation.
The nation is entitled to know further. How could Rosmah Mansor have been able to pay for the jewellery worth RM60 million eventually, of which the same would continue be part of her personal collections, but for the change of government on 9th May 2018?
