Hope that there will not be a third time !
The Penang DAP accepts in good faith the explanation given by The Office of The Chief Minister on the position of The Head of State of Penang, Tun Abdul Rahman bin Abbas.
The position of Head of State of Penang is the constitutional head of the State and the holder of this office must be fully aware of the provision in the State Constitution which prohibits him from actively engaging in commercial enterprise.
Although the State Government has given the assurance that the Head of State had relinquished all his appointments as director and shareholders, this assurance is meaningless if all statutory requirements have not been accomplished in the shortest time possible.
The late compliance of Commission of Companies' regulation have put the Head of State in a very embarrassing position twice and have created doubts into his sincerity in relinquishing all his appointments as director and shareholders of private companies.
We hope that there will not be a third time that the name of the Head of State would be tarnished.
