Seat negotiation: DAP sends official letter to Parti Keadilan Nasional
I have today send an official letter to Parti Keadilan Nasional President Datin
Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, expressing the DAP 's wish to begin the process
of seat negotiation between DAP and Parti Keadilan Nasional without any further
delay.
In June this year, the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) had authorized
National Publicity , Sdr Ronnie Liu , to initiate discussion with Parti Keadilan
Nasional on seat discussion to avoid overlapping contests among the two parties
in the next general election.
At the DAP Central Executive Committee meeting held on 22.10.2002, Party leaders
were informed that the discussions have yet to begin as Parti Keadilan Nasional
are not ready.
As such, the CEC has decided to write to Datin Seri Wan Azizah to express our
wish that the discussions should begin without any further delay.
DAP decided quit the Barisan Alternative on 22.9.2001 and the question of
returning to the Barisan Alternative does not arise anymore.
However, in order to ensure that the Opposition's winning chances are not
reduced by overlapping fights among the Opposition parties, the DAP has decided
to initiate discussions with Parti Keadilan Nasional with the hope to achieve an
electoral understanding on seat allocations between the two parties.
