One simple question for Gerakan: Where was Gerakan when the nation’s coffers were being plundered by BN?

Before Gerakan leaders open their mouth, I have one simple question for them: Where was Gerakan when the nation’s coffers were being plundered by Barisan Nasional (BN)? Surely, Gerakan was not born yesterday!

If Gerakan and in particularly, its vice-president Baljit Singh are unable to answer this question, then I demand his party to first tender a full and unreserved apology to the nation for its long association with BN’s newly-rebranded bossku and former Prime Minister, Najib Abdul Razak.

When Gerakan was in BN, there is no record of Baljit or any of his Gerakan leaders speaking up against Najib – yes, not even a squeak till today, despite the collapse of BN government!

Najib is already reputed the world over to be the kleptocratic leader during the BN regime. He has also been dubbed as the biggest “thief” in this country, having siphoned off billions of Ringgit from Malaysia and if this does not warrant a national debate, what would!

The outcome of this long-term association between Gerakan and the kleptocrat leader is a nation that has already plunged into huge debts for a number of years to come, aggravating further the hardships faced by the B40 category of rakyat. Where is Gerakan’s conscience?

If Gerakan does not have the guts to denounce its former boss Najib and BN, what credibility then does Gerakan have to even have the cheek to suggest DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang not to debate with Najib regarding the 1MDB scandal (https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/477010).

Before Najib spends the rest of his retirement years behind bars, many of us are still very interested to know what he has to say from his own mouth about the way he has looted the country’s funds, as everyone, especially the young people are anxious to find out how the country has been hit by a scandal of this great magnitude in this century.

As the philosopher George Santayana said: “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.
