It came like a lightning bolt to me because just last evening, I had had a lengthy chat with him.<\/p>\n<p>After getting hold of myself, I then twittered a short condolence\u00a0expressing deep sorrow and devastation over the loss of \u201cour indefatigable fighter for justice\u201d. Once again, Azizah and family offer our deepest condolences\u00a0to\u00a0Gurmit\u00a0Kaur,\u00a0Gobind, Ram\u00a0and the rest of the family.\u00a0May you all remain strong in this great hour of tribulation.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed,\u00a0words cannot express enough my profound sadness of the\u00a0passing away of my\u00a0brother-in-arms for freedom and democracy, an inspiring symbol for the struggle against oppression and injustice and\u00a0a man of unimpeachable moral\u00a0integrity.<\/p>\n<p>The nation has lost one of her most\u00a0dedicated servants. The\u00a0people\u00a0have lost \u00a0a selfless\u00a0, courageous and noble\u00a0defender of their fundamental liberties.
