Media statement by Dr. Edwin Bosi in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday, 4th March 2012:

DAP Sabah to government - walk the talk

DAP Sabah wants to remind the government to stop saying that the oppositions are only good at talking but unable to develop the country. In a country which practices democracy the opposition plays a very important role in nation building. It is for this reason that an Opposition leader is appointed in Parliament. A strong and formidable opposition helps to prevent autocratic leader and government to take root.

DAP Sabah therefore reminds the government to be thankful to the oppositions who raise issues which are of concern to the people. We are also acting like "eye and ear" for the rakyat getting the government of the day to do their part. In the previous Dewan sitting, DAP Sabah Chairman and Assemblyman for Sri Tanjung Jimmy Wong raised issues on the poor infrastructure in Sabah. In response, the Minister responsible Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan asked YB Jimmy to show proof of the poor infrastructure and not to merely talk to get cheap publicity.

The Sabah government has been blowing their trumpet very loud. The Chief Minister brags of the multi-Billion budget and the people in the remotest part of the country expect development to reach them. Unfortunately this is not happening. For example, the 19-km Road to Kg Bongol in the constituency of Pitas, Kudat is still dirt and during heavy rain it is rendered impassable. The people in this village are still relying on well water. It is unbelievable that after 48 years of independence and under the BN such situation still persisted. We are not surprised how disappointed the people of Kg Bongol are when informed of a RM430 million Bridge that will link Semporna to Gum-Gum island. We can see the importance of getting the right "wakil Rakyat" in every constituencies. The bridge reflects the strength of the "YB" in Semporna and he wants to leave behind a lasting legacy. The people representative in Pitas is the opposite.
