Seek Governor of Penang Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas' consent for a dissolution of the Penang State Assembly in accordance with Article 19(2) of the Penang state constitution

I have sought an audience with the Governor of Penang Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas at his official residence in Seri Mutiara this morning to seek his consent for a dissolution of the Penang State Assembly in accordance with Article 19(2) of the Penang state constitution.

The Penang state EXCO have met on 3.4.2013 and agreed with me that the Penang state government accept the Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak’s written request to me to have a dissolution. This will allow for simultaneous 13th general elections to be held at both the state and federal level.

I have also submitted to the Governor that tomorrow will be the suggested date for dissolution.

As I am rushing off to Kuala Lumpur now to attend a Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council meeting, I will be arranging for a press conference at Komtar tomorrow at 10.30 am.
