Burn 'Allah' Bibles call: PM must show he is PM for all

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali is reported to have openly called upon Muslims to seize and burn copies of Bibles which contain the term "Allah" or other Arabic religious words.

Needless to say, such a call is not only highly inappropriate, it is also criminal in nature and stern action must be taken against him.

The Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak at the annual Christian Federation of Malaysia Christmas high-tea last year offered his friendship and reassured the Christian community that the government had "not forgotten" them.

He said he did not want to be a Prime Minister for only a section of the community but for all Malaysians and urged Christians to trust his commitment to them.

Now is the time for the Prime Minister to demonstrate his sincerity in making that call.

The Prime Minister has a loud history for remaining silent when controversial matters like this arise.

I call upon Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak to use all the might at his command as Prime Minister of Malaysia, as Prime Minister for all Malaysians, to speak up and correct this most gravest of wrongs perpetuated against Christians and all Malaysians.

Silence on part of the Prime Minister in these circumstances will smash into bits the concept of 1 Malaysia advanced by none other than he himself and prove his critics correct to say that such was merely a hollow sham which was not real but purely politically motivated instead.
