Law Choo Kiang and Ustaz Maktar Hj Shapee proposed by PR Penang as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Penang State Assembly

I shall be proposing ADUN Bukit Tambun Law Choo Kiang and ADUN Sungai Bakap Ustaz Maktar Hj Shapee on behalf of PR Penang as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Penang State Assembly meeting on 28 June 2013. The Penang state EXCO had proposed that Penang PKR Chair Dato Mansor Othman as the Penang State Assembly Speaker which were actively supported by PKR EXCO members.

The Penang state EXCO had unanimously proposed Dato Mansor Othman’s name as Penang State Assembly Speaker after getting feedback from both within and without the state government from the lowest to the highest levels of office in Penang.

However after consultation with PKR de facto leader and Parliamentary Opposition Leader Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Law Choo Kiang was agreed as Penang State Assembly Speaker with Ustaz Maktar Shapee as Deputy Speaker. Dato Seri Anwar will meet all relevant parties later to explain this decision.

I will be moving the motion on Friday and Deputy Chief Minister 1 Rashid Hasnon will be seconding the motion.
