Khir Toyo's "zero opposition" target
reflects sheer arrogance and political shallowness
Press Statement

(Petaling Jaya,
Wednesday):
Selangor MB Datuk Dr Mohd Khir Toyo
has been repeatedly bragging about his party's ability to wipe out the
opposition parties in Selangor in the coming general election.
Khir Toyo's war cry simply reflects his arrogance and political shallowness
as a politician. He is probably the biggest and only "big-mouth" UMNO
politician in the country. (Has anyone come across any other UMNO/ Barisan
Nasional leaders with such a big mouth?)
Khir Toyo won his Sungei Panjang seat in 1999 by less than 200 votes. So,
where does he found his confidence to shout for zero opposition this time
around?
His confidence probably stems from the new delineation exercise. To begin
with, we saw an increase of over 3,000 new voters for his Pasir Panjang
constituency. Insiders would know that these voters were mostly BN
supporters carved out from the neighbouring constituencies. So the former
dentist believes he would win hands down after this "surgery".
The state seat held by DAP in Bandar Kelang is now divided into two state
seats. Political analysts believe that BN has now a better chance to wrest
the only seat from the DAP.
Azmin Ali, who is now the Ulu Kelang
state assemblyman, may not even be able to defend the only seat for Keadilan
due to numerous charges pending in court. He may even forced to concede the
seat after winning it.
The other four Pas incumbents were also facing a tougher battle in the
coming general election due to the gerrymandering of seats.
So, Khir Toyo arrogantly shouts for "Sifar Pembangkang".
But the people are the bosses. Only they can determine the fate of the
opposition. Not Khir Toyo.
