Challenge Dato’ Hon Choon Kim
to a Public Debate – “Does Negeri Sembilan need Opposition?” Press Statement by Loke Siew Fook (Petaling Jaya, Wednesday): MCA Negeri Sembilan Chairman, Dato’ Hon Choon Kim had in a statement published on 29 November 2003 in Sin Chew Jit Poh (NS edition) mentioned that the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly “does not need any Opposition representatives”. He reasoned that Opposition elected representatives “could not deliver any concrete work but merely making noises in the Assembly” and he also said that the presence of Opposition in the State Assembly will only worsen certain situations.
The MCA is certainly under pressured by the extensive and aggressive campaigns of the DAP in Negeri Sembilan particularly after we launched our state election slogan and manifesto “Break BN Monopoly for A Better Negeri Sembilan” on last 12 October.
We are urging the people of Negeri Sembilan to vote a strong DAP in the coming general election to break the Barisan Nasional’s monopoly of both the Parliamentary and State seats in Negeri Sembilan.
I had today openly extend my challenge to Dato’ Hon Choon Kim who is also the Member of Parliament for Seremban to have a Public Debate on the theme “Does Negeri Sembilan Need Opposition?”.
Please refer to my letter attached.
(3/12/2003) * Loke Siew Fook, DAP Negeri Sembilan State Secretary
