Selangor DAP to step up voter registration campaign with the cooperation of the state election office
Press Statement by John Chung (Petaling Jaya, Friday): Selangor DAP will step up its efforts this month to attract more qualified voters who have yet to register to do so with the cooperation of the Selangor election office. The state election office has agreed to our request to set up mobile registration units at various localities in the state. We hope that through this campaign, we can complement the efforts of the Election Commission to register the 2 million Malaysians who have yet to sign up. The campaign will kickstart with a mobile registration exercise tomorrow July 5, 2003 at the morning market in SS2, Petaling Jaya from 9.00 a.m.-1.00 p.m. State election officers will be present with computer facilities to register qualified voters. We urge those who have yet to do so to quickly register so that they do not to miss out on their democratic right to vote in the next general election. Those who have already registered previously but are unsure of their voter status can also come and check their details. For enquiries, please contact John Chung at 016-3148 370 or Ean Yong Hian Wah at 012-2266 389. (4/7/2003) * John Chung, Selangor DAP Organising Secretary |
