Malaysians should not be too surprise if MCA was also infiltrated by other personalities involving in VCDs, flesh and gambling trades, as the party is now claiming that they do not adopt a stringent screening process for membership application

Media Statement
by Ronnie Liu

(Petaling Jaya, Monday): Deputy PM and Home Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said yesterday that the people should not cast aspersions on the MCA just because of one of its branch leaders is wanted by the police for secret society activity. He also argued that people should not assume that many triad members have infiltrated the MCA just because of one person.

Those who follow the Malaysian news closely would know that the deputy PM was factually wrong in his claim.

This year alone, at least two other prominent MCA leaders were found to have actively involved in triad or criminal activities.

The "Datuk" who was killed at a famous restaurant in Kuala Lumpur was the advisor to an MCA branch in Banting. His datukship was stripped off earlier by the Selangor Sultan for his alleged triad activity.

And the local councillor who was arrested in Australia for ecstasy pills manufacturing and smuggling activity worth more than a hundred million Australian dollars was the current secretary of the Kampar MCA division.

Malaysians should not be too surprise if the party was also infiltrated by other personalities involving in VCDs, flesh and gambling trades, as the party is now claiming that they do not adopt a stringent screening process for membership application.

MCA also accepts persons with criminal record to join as member, even to the extent of becoming a branch chairman (in the case of Sio Sam Ong chief Ong King Ee)!

The question one may like to ask MCA is whether it is ethical to accept monetary contribution from such leaders to run party activities and programs, such as the computer learning centre set up by the Gurney Drive branch under the leadership of  "Jackie Chan"?
