(Petaling Jaya, Thursday): DAPSY commends MCA Youth legal bureau head Simon Lim and Negeri Sembilan MCA Youth’s Team B leader Mah Ann Ann for their action on lodging two separate police reports on the alleged prevalence of money politics and the infiltration of triads in MCA.

This is probably the first time in the history of Malaysian politics that leaders of a party has lodged police reports against its own party on the allegation of money and triad politics. This is the best testimony that the issue at stake has reached a very serious magnitude and deserved the highest attention of the police.

DAPSY is very concern about the allegations of “Black Gold” in MCA as this is not just a MCA affair but it concerns the health of Malaysian politics and will have serious repercussions to the future of the country. In fact, DAPSY Chairman, Nga Kor Ming has lodged a police report in Ipoh on March 11th when the issue was first revealed by the MCA Youth chief, Datuk Ong Tee Keat.

If the Youth leaders of Team B in MCA are serious and sincere in tackling and solving the problems, they should fully cooperate with the police and reveal all information to the police whether it involved Team A or Team B leaders.

In commenting on the two police reports lodged, MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said, “Let the truth emerge from the police report, this is a free country”. (NST, March 27, 2003). As there are at least 4 police reports lodged so far by various quarters on the alleged money politics and triad in MCA, it should now be classified as a police case and no longer a disciplinary problem of MCA.

DAPSY calls on Liong Sik to suspend all MCA internal disciplinary deliberations on the allegations of “Black Gold” in the party and surrender the investigation 100% to the Police. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Norian Mai must give serious attentions to all the reports lodged on this matter and must ensure a through investigation to totally combat “black gold” from taking roots in Malaysian politics.
