Selangor " No pork selling in open-air markets " policy marks another example of implementation of Mahathir's " 929 Declaration"

Press Statement

(Petaling Jaya, Friday): The Kajang Municipality (MPK) has given notice to all the pork selling stalls in Sg Long open-air market to close down. The MPK officers have told reporters that they are following the instruction of the Selangor EXCO member, Datuk Mokhtar Dahalan to demolish all pork selling stalls in Sg Long, Kajang. They also claimed that this "No pork selling in open-air market" policy comes from the Selangor State Government, and it shall apply to all other open-air markets in the state. This will mean that all pork selling stalls in SS2, Section 17,Taman Indah Cheras, Seri Kembangan and other open-air markets will not be spared eventually.

It is noteworthy to point out that pork selling in open-air markets is a common sight in Malaysia. Even tourists in Kota Bharu, Kelantan would be able to see pork-selling stalls near the main taxi stand in the city.

This move has clearly undermined the constitutional rights of the Chinese and other non-Muslims in the country, and it marks just another example of implementation of the " 929 Islamic State Declaration" by the Selangor State Government under the leadership of Datuk Seri DR Khir Toyo.

Early this year, the Selangor State Government has directed to reduce the number of pubs, karaokes and other entertainment outlets drastically without a good reason. Most of these effected outlets were establishments with proper licenses and well maintained.

In April, Khir Toya has decided to order all coffeeshops and restaurants in the state to take down liquor and beer signages and advertisements. Even state governments under PAS do not see the need and justification to implement such discriminative actions.

Besides pushing all pig farmers to a centralised area in the state, there is also a plan to move all Chinese temples in Kapar to a specific area. If we do not practise such thing for the suraus, what would be the logic and rationale for doing this?

We hope all Malaysians will take these developments towards Islamic State seriously and support the DAP's Malaysian Malaysia struggle and fight for a free, democratic and plural society.
