Lim Keng Yaik: "Attending Parliament
is a waste of time" Media Statement by Ngeh Koo Ham (Ipoh, Monday): In the fund raising dinner at Sekolah Kebangsaan (China), New Village, Ayer Tawar, Perak last night, Dato’ Seri Lim Keng Yaik in reply to the criticism that he hardly attend Parliament to perform his duty, he said that ‘it is a waste of time to attend Parliament’! If it is a waste of time to attend Parliament the people of Beruas must no longer elect him to Parliament in the next General Election. Dato’ Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik has total disdain for the Parliamentary democracy that we practice. As a Minister he is accountable to Parliament. He reports to Parliament how he has performed. The public through their elected representatives have the right to question him in Parliament and make him accountable. Lim Keng Yaik has also gone against the directives of the Prime Minister & Deputy Prime Minister to all Barisan National MPs to attend Parliament. Both of them have expressed dismay at the non attendance of Barisan Nasional MPs like Lim Keng Yaik. In view of the attitude taken by Lim Keng Yaik, DAP Perak calls on the people of Beruas to reject him in the next general election.
