DAP calls for separate  public inquiry into all aspects of the gang  rape-murder of Nurul Huda including the role of police,  TNB, security companies and the Gelang Patah  government clinic to protect and save all Malaysian children from criminals and negligence, whether government, corporate or society Media Statement by Lim Kit Siang (Penang,  Monday): The account of 26-year-old Amir Effendi Abdul Ghani of the indifferent and callous attitude of the attendants and nurses at the government clinic in Gelang Patah, Johore, who showed no sense of urgency to his desperate pleas to  save his 10-year-old sister, Nurul Huda Abdul Ghani, victim of gang rape and murder, eight days ago is both heart-rending and shocking that  health workers have such outrageous attitudes totally bereft of  humanity and  compassion.  Amir was so traumatized by his sister’s gang rape-murder and the callous attitude of the clinic staff that he fell into a depression, not speaking or eating for several  days.  Amir found his sister lying naked in the TNB guard-house near their home, still breathing though her body was badly bruised and battered with her eyes half-opened. He  believed Nurul Huda could have been saved had the clinic taken the case seriously with a sense of urgency.  Although I had earlier proposed that the gruesome, heinous and horrific  gang-rape and murder of Nurul Huda should be top agenda for the Police Royal Commission, it is probably more appropriate for a separate public inquiry into all aspects of the  atrocious crime  against Nurul Huda including the role of police,  TNB, security companies and the Gelang Patah  government clinic to protect and save all Malaysian children from criminal perverts  and negligence, whether government, corporate or society.  The establishment of the Police Royal Commission should not be an excuse to freeze, defer or delay urgent action that must be taken to fight crime and protect lives and property, on the motto that a crime is one too many.  A separate public inquiry is warranted as according to Bukit Aman statistics from 2000 to April last year, of the 4,496 rape victims, students made up 41.5% (1,955) while 51.4% (2,314) were victims below 16.  For the same period, 68% (3,058) of the rape cases took place at home/building and 21.8% were committed in the bushes, secluded places or public places.
