On behalf of the organizing committee, I wish to confirm that the "The Great
Malaysian Debate: ISA - Yes or No" will be held as scheduled on Monday 26th
July at 8.30 p.m. at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Kuala Lumpur.
Registrations will start at 8 p.m. There were press reports yesterday
quoting Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri that the debate will be held on 25th July and
I wish to stress here that the date mentioned was not accurate.
The Dang Wangi OCPD Hadi Ho Abdullah has granted a police permit for the
organizing of the debate through a letter dated 20th July to DAPSY Assistant
National Secretary Kuan Perk Siong.
The Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall is able to accommodate 1,000 attendants.
The organizing committee will distribute invitation cards to members of the
public who are interested on a first come first serve basis. DAP and UMNO
are equally given 400 invitation cards for their supporters and invitees.
200 places will be reserved for
representatives from the NGOs, political parties, academicians and the
media.
Members of the public who wish to attend the debate can collect the
invitation cards in the designated DAP offices in the Klang Valley starting
on Friday, 23th July. Alternatively, they can call up the DAP Headquarters
at 03-7957 8022 to register and pick up the cards at the venue. They can
also register through email at
