We call on the Datuk Bandar to review its agreement with Fadason
Holdings because of the low quality of the low-cost high-rise flats at
the Taman Fadason
Press Statement
by Dr Tan
Seng Giaw
(Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday):
Datuk Bandar, Datuk Mohamad Shaid bin Mohd Taufek has his
client's day on a working Saturday, seeing hundreds of people. He and his
deputy director generals listen to complaints of city folks. We hope he
keeps on listening to the people.
The residents of low-cost high rise flats at Taman Fadason, Jinjang North,
should bring their grouses to Datuk Bandar on his client's day, putting
forward their woes such as poor quality concrete, more sand than cement.
Walking up the series of stairs, we can see that within a few months, little
parts of the steps flake off. There are cracks on the walls and some parts
of the floors. Water can splash into certain areas during heavy rain. There
are complaints on contracts and compensations and the attitude of the
management. There are immigrants. No doubt, the developer tries to
exonerate itself from any blame. Datuk Mohamad Shaid should look into this.
Why has this father and son developer been appointed to develop the Jinjang
North squatter area? Barisan Nasional Youth chief Datuk Haidar Ali should be
able to explain. No doubt, he is only interested in projecting a good image
whatever the complaints of the residents. Where there were no fire hosts,
new ones have been installed in certain places to let reporters take the
pictures.
Building low-cost units may not bring in profits. So, the work is shoddy as
seen in the above-stated flats. Other parts of the project such as shop lots
and office blocks are more profitable. Here, the Datuk Bandar should review
the contract with Fadason Holdings so that the company can make good the
sorry state of the low-cost flats.
