We call on the Works Minister Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu to investigate immediately the persons responsible for the cracks on the 33 pillars of the Middle Ring Road II in Kepong

Media Statement
by Dr Tan Seng Giaw

(Kuala Lumpur, Saturday): On 19 May, 2004, the Cabinet decided to restrict traffic at the 3.3 Km Middle Ring Road II, allowing only one lane of flow instead of three in one direction. For the past two days, the decision has been carried out, resulting in 20 Km jam. I was caught in the jam between 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM. yesterday. I shall use more of the Sprint Highway and Jalan Duta to go to Kepong. Jalan Duta is under construction.

While it is correct for the Government to take a preventive action, it is necessary to have alternatives so that the jam would not be so bad. As I am affected daily, I shall press the Government continuously to ease the traffic.

The Middle Ring Road II helps to disperse the traffic. It was open two years ago. Why should the 33 pillars supporting the flyover from Kepong to Sri Damansara be cracked? It is not enough for the Works Minister to strengthen the 33 pillars. He must find out who is responsible and charge the person or persons in court in the interest of the public.
