We urge the Menteri Besar to investigate the four-and-a-half-year delay in the Prima Selayang project, consistent with the status of the premier state

Media Statement
by  Dr Tan Seng Giaw

(Kuala Lumpur,  Thursday): The project on PKNS land is developed by Kansas Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Jurubena Tenaga. In the sale and purchase agreement between the 109 purchasers and Kansas in 1997, PKNS appears. The project was scheduled to be completed in May 2000. Over four years later, the project has not been completed.

The Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Khir Toyo should investigate what has happened to the project. Although the Housing and Local Government Ministry is uncertain that it has jurisdiction to supervise projects on commercial buildings, the State Government has the responsibility to ensure that every project is implemented successfully.

Locals and foreigners can purchase commercial buildings. If a developer takes money from buyers and reneges on the agreement such as in the above-stated project, what is the position of the State Government? What part has the local authority like the Selayang Municipality played in the project? Does it not issue development order, approve the design and other things including the certificate of fitness?

The Menteri Besar talks about attracting investors and the mushrooming of public and private projects. How does the Prima Selayang project fit into his scheme of things?
