DAP calls on the Perak State Government to ‘walk the talk’ on national integration by increasing the number of non-Malays employees in the state civil service and its agencies Media Statement by Ngeh Koo Ham (Ipoh, Friday): We have just celebrated our 47th year of Independence on 31/8/2004. The BN Government has over the years repeatedly call on the people of different races to be integrated as Malaysians. However, the BN Government is the main culprit in causing the continued segregation of the different races in Malaysia due to its racial policies. One of its clear divisive policy is its policy of employing Government servants from one particular race. At the national level, the racial composition of the civil service is as follow:-
At the Perak State level the racial composition of the Perak State Government civil service, its statutory bodies and companies is as follows:- a) Perak State Administration Civil Service
b) State Agencies and Companies
I call on the Perak Government to increase the employment of non-Malay in its civil service, state statutory bodies and companies. This will help i) to enhance racial integration amongst different races. ii) Make it easier for the public from different races to deal with the Perak Government departments and its agencies. iii) enrich the quality of the civil service by having the imput from different races and view points. I deeply regret that the non-Malay based parties i.e the MCA Gerakan and MIC in the name of representing the various communities were only interested in securing the representation for themselves in the State Exco but have totally neglected to raise the issue that all races must be proportionately represented in the Perak State Government civil service and its agencies. I call on the MIC, MCA and Gerakan State Exco members to do what they claim to do i.e to speak up for the respective communities that they represent.
