DAPSY Urges ACA to investigate and charge Wee Choo Keong for Lodging a False
Report
Press Statement
by
Su Keong Siong
(Petaling Jaya, Thursday): The
statement made by Parliamentary Opposition Leader and MP for Ipoh
Barat Lim Kit Siang that he never used Approved Permits (AP) to import
any cars has proven that Wee Choo Keong, the Secretary-General of MDP
has lodged a false report to ACA, and infringed section 19(1) of
Anti-Corruption Act. I urge the ACA to take legal action against Wee
Choo Keong for this offence.
Section 19 of Anti-Corruption Act says,
กฐ(1) where any person makes
or causes any other person to make to an officer of the Agency or to the
Public Prosecutor, in the course of such officer or Public Prosecutor
exercising any power conferred by this Act, any statement which to the
knowledge of the person making the statement, or causing the statement to be
made is:
a) is false, or intended to mislead; or
b) is not consistent with
any other statement previously made by such person to any other person
having authority or power under any law, or otherwise, to receive, or
require to be made, such other statement regardless whether or not the
person making the statement is under any legal or other obligation to tell
the truth,
he shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine
not exceeding one hundred thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not
exceeding ten years or to both.
Wee Choo Keong, the Secretary-General of MDP has been accusing the
Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang and other MPs for selling APs
ever since Rafidah Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry
faced accusations on the AP issue.
The false accusations and lies by Wee Choo Keong is intended to divert
public attention on the AP issue. This is yet another typical Wee stunt, the
political joker and liar, who is just out to seek cheap publicity.
MDP being an opposition party leader, charged with the responsibility to
check government abuses and monitor the implementation of policy of the BN
government, has not only failed to play his role on the AP issue, instead he
maliciously accuses the DAP leaders out of personal vendetta.
As rightly pointed out by Lim Kit Siang, an MP who uses an AP commits no
offence of corruption. My question to Wee is, if he thinks applying for an
AP is a form of corruption, then why did he his point fingers at the DAP MPs
only and not at all other recipients of APs, like all cabinet ministers,
state governors and all BN MPs?
I urge the ACA to take the false report lodged by Wee Choo Keong
seriously and to prosecute Wee as he has clearly made a false report to the
ACA without any proof and evidence.
