Terrorist Attacks Anywhere Are A Threat To Peace Everywhere; Injustice Can Only Be Rooted Out By First Allowing Justice To Take Root And Flower.

Press Statement
by Lim Guan Eng

(Petaling Jaya, Friday): DAP unreserverdly deplore the cowardly and murderous attacks against innocent civilians following at least 4 bomb explosions in London yesterday morning. These terrorist attacks are not only a crime against the almost 40 killed and hundreds injured but also a crime against humanity itself.

Terrorist attacks anywhere are a threat to peace everywhere.

There are many injustices in the world. However these injustices do not justify these acts of terrorism. DAP rejects the contention by certain groups that condemns these terrorist attacks and yet at the same time hint that London asked for it because of its military actions in Iraq. To even hint at such a connection is a mockery of humanity and the lives lost in London because these innocent civilians did not make these decisions.

Using violence against innocent civilians to impose one’s values is not only against civilized society but also against all religious teachings. For those who misuse the holy and noble name of Islam to carry out these terrorist attacks stand condemned committing a great unforgiveable sin against their own religion they seek to protect.

Injustice can only be rooted out by allowing justice to take root and flower.

Fighting injustice with injustice leads to barbaric war. The oppressed and the oppressor becomes one. Only fighting injustice with justice can there be a enduring and honourable peace.

All civilized nations and societies will stand together with London’s terrorist victims for the values of peace, freedom, tolerance and democracy. All people throughout the world will pray for those murdered and injured that their loss and suffering will not be in vain or turn us away from the need to live together with tolerance and human dignity as well as a just peace.
