P.PATTO – A TOWERING
MALAYSIAN
We are gathered today to
remember a towering leader of the DAP who is a close comrade, a dear
friend, a gentleman and a God-fearing man as well as a loving father
and faithful husband.
Words alone do not suffice to
describe the nature of Patto and his importance to all of us who knew
him. Not just us but those whose lives he has touched and made a
difference. Perhaps we can only do justice by remembering how much his
absence has reminded us how our hearts grow ever fonder for his
presence.
However, as Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow said,
“Look not mournfully into the
Past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the Present. In is thine.
Go forth to meet the shadowy Future, without fear, and a manly heart.”
On manliness Mahatma Gandhi said
-
“Manliness consists not in
bluff, bravado or lordliness. It consists in daring to do the right
and facing consequences whether it is in matters social, political or
other. It consists in deeds, not in words.”
Patto is a man of both words and
deeds to do the right thing. His lovely family and daughters are
justifiably proud of him. His untimely departure may have robbed us of
his guidance. But we salute his indomitable spirit and unfailing
optimism which will always fill us with faith to muster the courage to
do our duty.
We miss you
Patto. And may God bless your soul!
