The 13th DAP Selangor Convention was successfully held to elect 15 candidates to lead DAP Selangor to move forward.


Press Statement at the Selangor State Convention in Klang

(Selangor, Tuesday):

DAP Selangor has successfully held the 13th State Convention in Prescott Hotel, Klang. The new state committees were also elected in this convention.

There are altogether 41 A Cert branches which representatives have successfully elected 15 candidates from a total of 28 candidates to form the new state committees to lead DAP Selangor till 2007.

The 15 elected candidates are as follows (in alphabetical order):

The State Convention has also adopted the following motions:

  1. To urge the government to restore local government election in order to empower the people to elect local councilors and to restore local democracy.
  2. To condemn the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for suspending DAP ADUN for Sungai Pinang, Sdr Teng Chang Khim from attending State Legislative Assembly meeting until 2007.
  3. To condemn the Selangor State Government for making Selangor an international laughing stock by declaring Selangor a developed state in which Selangor has yet qualified so.
  4. To demand a complete explanation from the State Government on the 3 latest white elephant projects i.e. RM29 million  spent on D’Muara Marina Resort in Kg. Sungai Haji Dorani, RM 410,000 spent on Terminal Rakyat in Merbau Berdarah and RM92.5 million spent on the construction of a 20.5 km road from Sekinchan to Sg Haji Dorani.
  5. To urge the State Government to fully cultivate the potential of agricultural activities in the State by preserving current agriculture land in the state and to encourage the utilization of high-tech agriculture skills in the state.
  6. To urge the State Government to improve the living conditions and quality of low-cost housing in Selangor, as well as to improve its life protection condition especially in high rise low cost housing.
  7. To urge the government to re-open SJK(C) Damansara in Kampung Damansara, Petaling Jaya to cater for the increasing demands from the community to have a community school in their village.
  8. To urge the State Government to protect and preserve green lungs by not allowing any development project in future that involves forest clearing.

Selangor Structure Plan 2020

  1. To urge the State Government to make public a complete traffic planning studies before developing a new area. In developing any new area, the State Government must incorporate an integrated public transportation system which must include LRT and feeder bus system.
  2. To urge the State Government to allocate more reserve land for building Churches and Temples for non-Muslim worshippers.
  3. To urge the State Government to allocate more reserve land for SJK(C)s and SJK(T)s in Selangor especially in area of high demand for vernacular schools.
