Public participation in campaign

DAP Penang has repeatedly stressed that the 2013 general election campaign is a campaign of the people, by the people, and for the people. Today, we introduce a new element in the campaign.

The coming general election will be the most crucial defining moment for our nation hence the participation of all is desirable. But it is also important because our opponents, for fear of losing federal power for the first time, is going to resort to desperate measures. The only way to counter them is for the community to rise against dirty politics by manifesting our support for reform explicitly, together.

DAP Penang is asking all pro-reform Malaysians to wear pro-reform shirts in the colours of yellow (BERSIH), green (Himpunan Hijau) and red (Ubah), or any other pro-reform colours, during the campaign period.

We are hoping that members of the public will start acquiring various pro-reform shirts for the use of the at least 10-day campaign period to create a sense of national solidarity for change.

This is but one of the many measures we will announce in the weeks to come to rally Malaysians for change.

The next election is not merely a contestation between Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional. It is a contest between the politics of yesterday and tomorrow. It is fight to democratise Malaysia. It is all Malaysians versus Barisan Nasional.
