Can Khairy explain what is the progress of this party-party relationship between BN Youth and CYL?
UMNO Youth President and Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaludin has reaffirmed UMNO is only consistent in its hypocrisy and double standards through its willingness to reconcile its hatred of communism with having close diplomatic relations with communist countries and overlook the China Communist Party’s(CCP) role in assisting the Communist Party of Malaya(CPM). If this is the case then why does UMNO continue to harp on the communist bogey when the CPM is not only a lesser threat now but no threat at all?
DAP had never sought breaking off diplomatic relations with communist countries because DAP had never used the communist bogey like UMNO to instil hate and fear. For this reason DAP is not adept at linguistic acrobatic employed by Khairy to justify UMNO Youth going berserk on anything remote related to communism, but yet on the other sees nothing wrong in announcing the setting up of a permanent secretariat on October 12 2009 to strengthen ties between Barisan Nasional Youth and the Communist Youth League of China (CYL).
Can Khairy explain what is the progress of this party-party relationship between BN Youth and CYL(not a government-to-government relationship) that Khairy said would promote a stronger bond between the two entities? Splitting hairs that there is a difference in the philosophy of communism between the CPM and CCP is a spurious and specious argument that even UMNO members would reject. And for Khairy to show the benefit of his Oxford education by claiming that the CCP is now no longer communist, a claim that would not be accepted by the CCP themselves.
The time has come for UMNO Youth and Khairy to grow up. Malaysians should look forward to the future and leave the past of hatred and fear behind us. After all if Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Rahim Nor can sign a peace agreement on behalf of the Malaysian government with the Communist Party of Malaya on 2 December 1989, why doesn’t UMNO Youth and Khairy accept BN’s role in it, instead of trying to hide it by labelling their opponents as communists to muster support.
When communists do not want to fear or hate but extend their hand of friendship, why should UMNO Youth and Khairy secretively take their hand but continue to spew hate and fear against communists? To use Khairy’s own analogy, he can not be both a durian and an apple. That is being hypocritical and practicing double-standards. He and UMNO Youth must decide whether they want to be either an apple or a durian, not a fruitcake of a mutant apple AND durian.
I had said that DAP does not want to comment or make judgments on the film “New Village” as no DAP leader have seen it. As neither Khairy nor any of the UMNO Youth have seen it, he should not try to exploit this film politically by falsely labelling it as glorifying communism.
The film’s producers have said that this is a forbidden love story with P13 classification that was approved by the Lembaga Penapis Filem with no cuts. In his feverish state before the coming UMNO party elections at the end of the year, are Khairy and UMNO Youth seeing communist bogeys everywhere, even in a simple love story?
