On October 6, the Conference of Rulers held a pre-council meeting and issued a statement the same day commanding the government to complete the investigation on 1MDB as soon as possible and take stern action against any party found to have committed any wrongdoing.
However, despite the importance of it, the statement did not get the prominent coverage that it deserved in the printed media, especially the Malay media.
Not only that, it looks like the statement has fallen on deaf ears. The Conference of Rulers demanded a thorough investigation. But as at today, the police has failed to record a statement from our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, whose approval is needed for all financial deals of 1MDB.
Their Royal Highnesses also stressed that all concerned should extend “real and sincere” cooperation for the investigation to achieve its objectives. But the managing director of SRC International Sdn Bhd, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and director of SRC International, Dato’ Suboh Md Yasin, have yet to approach MACC to give their statement despite the fact that they have been wanted by MACC since August.
It is evident that there is a force that tries very hard to sabotage the investigation on 1MDB and RM2.6 billion donation scandals. We will not allow them to succeed as the double scandals have jeopardized the economy and wellbeing of Malaysia.
As such, for the first phase, DAP has printed 100,000 copies of the Conference of Rulers’ statement in BM, mainly to be distributed in rural Malay areas, so that the rakyat of Malaysia can get a clearer picture on what’s happening in our country.
