DAPSY Penang reminds that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is now under the federal government where they report to Prime Minister’s Department (JPM). The Penang State Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng has no influence at all towards the probe report (if any), and hence there is totally not a topic for Lim to go on leave.
The statement of Penang PAS Youth Chief, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said to ensure transparency and a swift investigation process by the authorities is invalid and senseless, it shows only PAS is practising double standard towards both the state leader and the national leader, said Wong. We want PAS to explain why they never ask Najib to go on leave when 1MDB scandal is headlined in worldwide media? Why should Lim Guan Eng be subjected to a different standard?
MACC reports to Najib’s department, and he may have control over any pending probe, which is why PAS should suggest it to the Prime Minister, Dato Seri Najib instead of the state level Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng. “PAS seems to act blind, deaf and dumb over billions that was found in national leader’s personal account but overreact when it comes to Pakatan Harapan where PAS has been excluded from the line up”, said Wong.
In addition, I wish to highlight to PAS Youth that Lim’s issue touches only the private property itself which does not involve public interests, whereas 1MDB is a company wholly-owned by government of Malaysia. I doubt if Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden learned to differentiate private property and a so called “Government-linked Company” before he voiced up in media, merely for political publicity stunts and to butter up his boss, Abdul Hadi Awang.
The Tasek Gelugor MP, Shabudin Yahaya first claimed in Parliament that Lim’s house was bought for RM 2.8million while the market value was believed to be between RM 6million to RM 6.5million, however the Penang UMNO Youth Chief, Rafizal Abdul Rahim accused that the said property is valued at RM 4.27million at later time. “Why would such a difference in (same) property value that accused by two peole from the same party — UMNO?” So who is telling lie now? Or perhaps, it is just another fairy tale story created by UMNO to set Lim and DAP up, so that they could divert public attention from RM2.6 billion?
PAS Youth should not take it as granted to butter up their president and to apple-polish their new comrade, UMNO who is the culprit after the issue. We, DAPSY Penang challenge Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden and PAS to not hold different standard but to urge Najib to step down or at least to take a break in the meantime.
