The DAP Johor State Committee meeting, which met on 26th March 2016 in Batu Pahat, unanimously resolved to expresses support for and solidarity with DAP Secretary-General Sdr. Lim Guan Eng and DAP Parliamentary Leader Sdr. Lim Kit Siang.
Guan Eng is faced with his most serious crisis since 2008 with the aim of finishing him off politically immediately. We welcome fair and unbiased investigation into Guan Eng’s purchase of his house. However, the “trial by media” in the past week with unsubstantiated and twisted facts is malicious.
Such massive attacks serve to divert attention from the multiple political crises faced by Prime Minister Najib Razak especially arising from the Citizen’s Declaration on 4th March. The attacks also aim to discredit Guan Eng and the DAP in the upcoming Sarawak state election. The Penang Chief Minister was the most potent political figure for the Opposition in the previous Sarawak state election in April 2011.
DAP Johor calls on our members and supporters to be cognizant of these political calculations, help the party to survive the difficult moments, and support Sdr. Guan Eng in his battle to clear his name.
DAP Johor also expresses support for and solidarity with Sdr. Kit Siang who faces a potential sedition charge for an entirely legitimate comment that the Royal Address is a speech prepared by the Government.
DAP Johor State Committee meeting also discussed the latest political development. DAP Johor supports the cross-party grand coalition of Citizen’s Declaration to seek the removal of Prime Minister Najib and to initiate meaningful institutional reforms.
The latest political realignment will impact Johor hugely. Johor will be the most important state to watch in the coming months, as well as in the next general election.
On a separate note, today’s DAP Johor State Committee was chaired by State Chairman Sdr. Liew Chin Tong who has almost fully recovered. This is his first official event in Johor since he was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy (paralysis of facial nerve) on 7th January. DAP Johor welcomes his return to work. The Chairman recorded his thanks to members, supporters and well-wishers for their kind thoughts and support during his illness and recuperation.
