The DAP Central Executive Committee in an emergency meeting held at the DAP National HQ on 1 July 2016 unanimously resolves the folllowing:
- That the CEC expresses its full and unflinching support and solidarity with DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng as he faces another round of politically motivated charges against him. The CEC also gives unqualified backing to Guan Eng to continue to lead the party as Secretary-General.
- That the two charges of corruption under Section 23 of the MACC Act and Section 165 of the Penal Code against Guan Eng are unfounded, malicious and smacks of political persecution.
- That there is no need for Guan Eng to take leave from his post as Chief Minister of Penang, because there is no question of conflict of interest as Guan Eng has no influence or control over the prosecution. Furthermore, the CEC also believes the charges to be completely baseless and nothing more than an attempt to topple the democratically elected Chief Minister of Penang, as well as to destabilise our party.
- To thank all Malaysians for their overwhelming support and solidarity with Guan Eng and the party in the face of political persecution by the BN Federal Government.
- That a national committee be formed for a “Support, Sympathy and Solidarity with Lim Guan Eng” campaign chaired by Anthony Loke Siew Fook with Zairil Khir Johari as secretary and Teo Nie Ching as treasurer, with all state chairmen and secretaries as members.
