Abdul Hadi Awang’s racist and extremist anti non-Bumi and anti non-Muslim rhetoric by blaming them for being the root of corruption in Malaysia cunningly calculated to strengthen PAS electoral purposes is a clear and present danger to Malaysian unity

PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s racist and extremist anti non-bumi and anti non-Muslim rhetoric by blaming them for being the root of corruption, cunningly calculated to strengthen PAS electoral prospects in the coming general election, shows that he is a clear and present danger to Malaysian unity. Hadi could not show a shred of evidence or any proof to back up his claims that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputera make up the majority of “roots of corruption” — those who chase illicit gains — to the detriment of the country’s economy and politics.

And yet he indulges in such dangerous and divisive rhetoric that will only serve his purpose to be the leader of only Muslims and bumis at the expense of non-Muslims and non-bumis. Not just the RM 52 billion 1MDB scandal, but the RM9 billion Littoral Combat Ship(LCS) scandal were not perpetrated by non-Muslims or non-bumis.

It is a fact that corruption is colour-blind and afflicts all BN leaders from all races from MCA, MIC and UMNO, totally lacking in integrity and honesty, who willingly rob the nation’s funds for personal benefit. Hadi may be blind to the facts and figures, but Malaysians must not be blinded by the hate preached by Hadi against minorities.

By putting a racial and religious slant on corruption with false and baseless claims, Hadi has clearly positioned himself to be the principal proponent against non-bumis and non-Muslims in Malaysia. Tragically, there are non-Muslim and non-bumi component parties such as GPS, MCA, GRS, MIC and Gerakan in the current government that not only condones such hate speech but supports them as their partners in power.

Hadi must not be allowed to burn down Malaysia with his inflammatory hate speech. DAP urges all Malaysians to ensure that PAS should not have a role to play in government unless they publicly apologise and disavow such discriminatory, divisive and hate tactics against minorities in Malaysia. Hadi even claims that non-Muslims and non-bumis are in control of political power in the government when neither the Prime Minister nor the Deputy Prime Minister nor principal government posts in the civil service has ever been held by minorities in Malaysia. Not just from Peninsular Malaysia but Sarawakians and Sabahans should uphold the rights and protections guaranteed in the Federal Constitution by rejecting PAS.
