AG should lodge police report over allegations over Batu Puteh

I call upon Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail to lodge a police report over allegations made against him for the loss of Pulau Batu Puteh to Singapore.

It is reported that former senior police officer Datuk Mat Zain Ibrahim has made a statutory declaration over the conduct of the Pulau Batu Puteh case although he has not officially lodged a police report over the matter.

The debate unfortunately now seems to be over whether a police report has been lodged so as to enable investigations to commence into the matter.

It is trite that the making of a statement, if false, in a Statutory Declaration is a criminal offence which carries with it a heavy penalty.

Tan Sri Gani cannot sit back and remain silent. He must lodge a police report himself so that the contents of the Statutory Declaration and the allegations made can be examined and investigated in full.

As Attorney-General, he must accept that this is a matter of public interest. It is to my mind, his duty to lodge a police report in situations like this so as to protect his image and the dignity and honour of his office.

As Member of Parliament, call upon him to take the challenge and to do so forthwith.
