Allocation of RM100,000 to Upgrade Facilities and Equipment at Sarawak General Hospital

Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has long been one of the busiest and most essential healthcare institutions in the region, managing a consistently high patient volume. However, many of its facilities and equipment have become outdated or are no longer functioning optimally, which hampers service delivery and overall efficiency.

In response to this urgent need, my office has allocated a total of RM100,000 to support critical upgrades at SGH. A major portion of this funding will be used to procure 20 new computers, which will be distributed across key departments, including the one-stop counter, plastic surgery clinic, emergency department, surgical wards, bed management unit, infection control unit, gynae ward, and female medical ward. This upgrade will significantly enhance digital infrastructure, streamline work processes, and improve service quality for patients and staff alike.

In addition to the computers, the allocation will also fund the purchase of:
-10 units of chairs for the one-stop counter,
-2 air conditioning units for the ticketing counter and ID clinic,
-50 portable drainage stands (PODS), and
-4 infusion pumps.

These upgrades are essential to improving the hospital’s functionality, ensuring a more comfortable environment for patients and staff, and strengthening SGH’s capacity to deliver timely and quality care.
